Jeff Finear and Scott Bruhn handcraft furniture and fine turnings from local wood. Their pieces are produced exclusively from wood gathered from the Santa Barbara area. Much of their exceptional stock has been salvaged from tree trimmers, firewood piles, or from being thrown in the dump. These woods include; Ash, Avocado, Burls, Black Acacia, Black Walnut, Ceanothus, English Walnut, Monterey Pine, Oak, Olive, Orange Sycamore & many more.
The creative process begins by hand milling the salvaged lumber by means of a special chain sawmill or bandsaw mill (depending on the type of log). The wood is then air dried slowly for several years to create exceptional quality lumber not available anywhere else. The lumber is then selected for its grain, color, and texture to create unique pieces.
They create furniture using fine joinery and inlays or its put on the lathe to create beautiful bowls, vases, and platters. Finally its finished with nontoxic, hand rubbed oils to create extraordinary polish and luster.
