Brian Cully has been making pottery for thirty years. Early in his career he ran the ceramics department at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo, as their first full time lab technician.

Although he uses a variety of techniques including Raku and pit firings, Brian has an instantly recognizable style. He is often cited as a master thrower and is most known for his elegant thrown sculpture work and large ceramic lamps both for indoor and outdoor use.

In 2018 he opened Nesting Hawk Ranch, a studio property in the beautiful Edna Valley of San Luis Obispo, California. Here he gives individual pottery lessons and hosts regular Raku firing nights using a kiln he built himself from electric kiln parts.
